The draft Somerset Local Nature Recovery Strategy (LNRS) sets out the county’s priorities for nature recovery and the recommended actions to deliver these. It also identifies where in the county this action should be targeted to deliver the greatest outcomes for the county’s habitats and species.
The strategy has two main parts: a Statement of Biodiversity Priorities and a Local Habitat Map. The Statement of Biodiversity Priorities explains what the strategy aims to achieve, based on input from local stakeholders and other plans. It also details how to make these goals happen with real actions on the ground. The Local Habitat Map shows where the actions can be delivered.
The intention of the LNRS is to direct action and investment to areas where it is most needed, and will achieve the greatest benefits, and to steer losses and impacts away from the county’s most valuable natural assets.
Whether you are a land manager, developer, planner, environmental organisation, a member of a community group or resident, the strategy will help you to identify opportunities to support nature’s recovery and to target action and funding.
It is important to note that the LNRS is not a delivery plan and does not place any obligations or restrictions on landowners. It identifies the best opportunities and locations for nature recovery and can be used to inspire people to get involved in taking action.
We have drafted a Local Nature Recovery Strategy (LNRS) for Somerset to help reverse the decline in nature in our local area (also known as ‘recovering’ nature), and now we want your views on our draft.
The survey includes questions for everyone. You can skip any questions that don't feel relevant to you. The survey is likely to take around 10 to 20 minutes to complete, depending on how many questions you choose to answer or skip

The aim of the trial was to create a cleaner, safer environment for communities through public partnerships and ethical enforcement. This approach followed the best...
